Before starting his apprenticeship at the Mittenwald School of Violin Making, Dominik Josef Wlk had already crafted his first violin on his own in his grandparents' carpentry workshop. After completing internships in workshops across Europe, he worked for several years at Erben Geigenbau in Munich. Dominik was later awarded his Master Craftsman status, along with a gold medal from the German government.

From 2016 to 2023, Dominik was based in London, where he worked as the exclusive assistant to Stefan-Peter Greiner. During this time, he also led the workshop at W.E. Hill & Sons.

His work is inspired by the shapes and colours in nature that he is strongly connected to, as well as by the finest examples of Italian violin making, which he has had the privilege of studying throughout his career. Much like a sculptor, his approach to violin making is highly artistic. This is reflected in his own unique model and style, continually curious and developing.

Dominik Wlk’s instruments are internationally renowned for their exceptional sound, playability, and craftsmanship, receiving high praise from soloists, members of prestigious orchestras, and collectors alike.
